Fun fact: Rareware was going to shit can Krystal because even they knew how fucking stupid it would have been to try and work her story in with Starfox. At the 1th hour they got told by Nintendo that they HAD TO use this character and then promptly had Imamura redesign her and work with them at trying to "make it work". It's like they wanted Rare to do that themselves since they were...well "experienced" at such things. In fact everything on paper just leads one to conclude that Miyamoto just really liked how the characters looked in DP and wanted to make one of them his OC's GF.

TL;DR: They literally just wanted to ship Krystal with Fox.
