The combat is definitely one of my favourite parts of it. Pay attention to the tutorials, it's a clever system that just keeps building on itself more and more as it goes.

It'll keep giving you more and more pieces and they each build on one another in a virtuous cycle, so that every bit you do correctly leads into exponentially more damage with each subsequent step. It's incredibly satisfying.

The only bit that's confusing (at least for me) is when the game talks about "Cancelling", it means cancelling the animation, the damage still goes through, you just link one attack to the next and it skips the recovery animations. When I was first playing and it was talking about cancelling arts, I thought I'd be losing damage by doing so, no, it's all positive.

Other than that: For the skill tree, take the "Start the battle with B/X/Y" skills active ones, and the "Cancel Arts into other Arts" ones first. Those are your biggest priorities and they should honestly have been available from the start instead of needing to invest into them. They each make the game far, far more fun.
