It's all a matter of perspective. For example you have relatively easy access to the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean / Central America, which I would love to visit, but are still prohibitively expensive for me. The only time I went to the US myself was on a work trip, so I had most of my expenses paid. Also, alas the golden age of when us euros could hop on a flight and visit another euro capital for a weekend like 60€ are long gone, flight prices have gone up a lot even for short-haul flights so even relatively "easy" trips are getting more and more expensive (that's not even mentioning the fact that european capitals, at least western ones, are hideously overpriced, especially when it comes to hotels / BnBs)

I did like it a lot, but it's definitely not a trip I would recommend to everyone. I went in the winter, which meant no hiking or other very outdoorsy stuff, but the rugged snowy landscapes and the ancient monasteries covered in snow were a true sight to behold. However, apart from churches and mountains there is not much else the country has to offer (also Georgia next door has better mountains or so I've been told). The food is great but not exceptional, Yerevan is cool and interesting but not mindblowing, you get the point. If you want a cheap trip in a country with a lot of interesting history, landscapes and architecture, that still has a relatively underdeveloped tourism industry (we had to improvise a lot, fortunately it's very easy to find taxis and tours at convenient prices) and is relatively off the beaten path (most tourists I saw when I went were from places like India or the Philippines), then yeah, I would say Armenia is a good option. My personal highlight for the trip was the Byurakan observatory, picrel. If you have other questions feel free to ask
