This trip is about halfway done. I've gotta go down to Johor Bahru, finish the rest of the rail traverse (south to north), then run my way up the east coast through Terengganu.
>>2787665Ironically, I had a hard time enjoying the nature in Chile, though the country's nature is still great. I tried to see Torres del Paine but by the time I gained motivation to actually hike up the mountain it was already too late in the afternoon (and there would've been thunder). I have some friends over there, though, so exploring Santiago and Concepciรณn still gave me a great time. I'd easily be willing to go back. (it helps that I speak spanish though)
As for the American question, there's definitely some, though it's relatively rare I think? I personally am more interested in not-America, though there's a lot of stuff to see in the US so it would be cool to see more of it. That said, there are some places on my map that I visited when I was a teenager, so I don't remember that much and seeing the cities as an adult would be nice. Namely, the Pacific Northwest.
>>2788613I'm not as experienced with nature and hiking as I am with exploring cities, I'm probably going to post another thread about it.

>>2788757It's all a matter of perspective. For example you have relatively easy access to the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean / Central America, which I would love to visit, but are still prohibitively expensive for me. The only time I went to the US myself was on a work trip, so I had most of my expenses paid. Also, alas the golden age of when us euros could hop on a flight and visit another euro capital for a weekend like 60โฌ are long gone, flight prices have gone up a lot even for short-haul flights so even relatively "easy" trips are getting more and more expensive (that's not even mentioning the fact that european capitals, at least western ones, are hideously overpriced, especially when it comes to hotels / BnBs)
>>2788957I did like it a lot, but it's definitely not a trip I would recommend to everyone. I went in the winter, which meant no hiking or other very outdoorsy stuff, but the rugged snowy landscapes and the ancient monasteries covered in snow were a true sight to behold. However, apart from churches and mountains there is not much else the country has to offer (also Georgia next door has better mountains or so I've been told). The food is great but not exceptional, Yerevan is cool and interesting but not mindblowing, you get the point. If you want a cheap trip in a country with a lot of interesting history, landscapes and architecture, that still has a relatively underdeveloped tourism industry (we had to improvise a lot, fortunately it's very easy to find taxis and tours at convenient prices) and is relatively off the beaten path (most tourists I saw when I went were from places like India or the Philippines), then yeah, I would say Armenia is a good option. My personal highlight for the trip was the Byurakan observatory, picrel. If you have other questions feel free to ask

Just came back from a first time visit of "that" province in China since I've always wanted to visit. And I'll just say this: the landscapes and monasteries are gorgeous, but the bureaucratic tension, altitude, sovless Chinese architecture honestly turned me off. Had a great time but probably won't visit anytime soon.
Going to Turkey next week :) than it will be time to see China
>>2789237one of my family members visited last year, and he said pretty much the same thing. Lhasa filled with concrete tower blocks like every other Chinese city, giant highways, no sign of restrictions being loosened up a bit, and very few foreign tourists.
one funny anecdote is that the police have fitted average speed check cameras on the highway that note when you enter a certain section of road and note when you exit, then calculate if your average speed was higher than the limit and fine you accordingly. In response to this, their driver simply took his 4x4 off the road and drove around the cameras at the exit. Other people stopped their cars on the road just before the cameras and waited so their average speed would go down.
I've also heard there's a lot of brain drain from there to Chengdu and Sichuan, because universities and higher education is very underdeveloped.

>>2787656 (OP)It's a bit of effort to fill in this map. I'm going to go make an app to make it easier if anyone is interested.
>>2789983There's already Mapchart.net for that honestly. For me, filling out the map for the first time is the best part. You can go through old travel photos and google what subdivisions you visited, talk to your parents about trips in your childhood. You're supposed to save it and only fill it out when you visit new locations, if you fill out the entire map from scratch every time these threads come around I can understand it's a bit of a pain in the ass.

Hello, Norwegian map autist here. Sorry for the radio silence, I was planning to update the map around New Year's, but because a lot of people at work was sick, I've been busy with working a lot of extra shifts for half a year now and it's taken all my energy. Things have improved lately, people are coming back to work and they've hired a few more people, so I'm back to my old schedule. This has allowed me to finally work on the new update. These are the changes I found:
>BIOT will join Mauritius
>there's a new region in the Philippines, so I might redraw the map to its provinces instead, lots of smaller and less visited countries have their complete set represented on the map. At the very least I'll make a DLC out of it.
>there are new regions in Mali and Angola
>some regional borders in Iraq, Latvia and the Republic of the Congo has changed
>regional reforms in Burundi and Vietnam will reduce the number of regions, these are approved and will be implemented this year, I'm only waiting on an updated map so I can redraw them
>will add Martim Vaz to Brazil since an Anon requested it
If anyone knows other changes or has suggestions, please share them. This map is a group effort, and we can only improve it if people reaches out with their ideas.
Question for smart people: Are Ireland's counties correctly represented on the map? It looks like it's missing five city counties, but these aren't new additions, so I'm wondering if I've left them out in earlier updates for a reason and just forgot.
Anyway, here's my map. Since last time I posted I've visited Rome. I've already been to Italy (Sardinia) years ago, but I visited the Vatican City for the first time, and also the offices of the Order of Malta, which I count as a "country". My current tally is now at 38 countries, 33 UN members and five "others".

>>2791362I can't answer for Catalonia that well because it was in the middle of the pandemic and it was a very tough time for me mentally (on top of the "wise" decision to have 4 roommates at the time), but I personally enjoyed it. I like public transit a lot, so being able to take Barcelona's metro was nice. I also briefly went to Tarragona which I enjoyed a lot, and I actually quite like how Catalan Catalonia is. Now I'm sure there's more Spanish, but during the pandemic there was waaaay more Catalan and it was surprisingly refreshing.
There's definitely immigrants ofc, but the ones that actually do crimes don't usually run kebab shops, so I usually get along with most of them well.

>>2791378Well, what was super interesting about HEART was how it's 16000x8000 pixels.
HEART has a lot of errors and weird pixels. So, from what I understand, the RT-BAM guys want to fix that.
I hope it will be released to the public, but I am not sure. They have a thread on alternatehistory.com, though.

I used the extension for a long time, but I eventually transitioned to mainly phone posting (especially while traveling) and I've never been able to figure out to get extraflags to work on mobile. I use the chrome app.
>>2800152The real use of it isn't collecting flags (although sure, you can do that too). It's a travel blogposting general
>>2801339I'll be sure to blogpost there on my future Eastern Europe trips, thanks

Every time I do one of these I realize how little travel I've actually done.
>Not doing "countries visited" beyond regions because fuck dem kids
>Not including the entire US as homeland because fuck dem kids

>>2799525>Hell yeah, were you in Krakow? It's one of my favorite citiesOnly briefly. Had a short stop there on the way to Auschwitz. My next Poland trip will be dedicated mainly to Krakow since previously I was staying in Warsaw
>>2799546How did you like Utah and Wyoming? How was Hokkaido?
>>2801420How did you like the Auschwitz theme park? I honestly admired the employee's dedication to staying in character, even though the script and setting aren't very believable. It's an interesting story, but they get some details wrong. Like, how is a wooden door supposed to seal in the gas?

>>2801988No, but we might know the same Daniel
Crazy, ive probably been to more countires then 99 % of the world but when I only select regiots ive been, its so timy.
>>2802303That's a lot of regions in Southeast Asia though, don't be too humble
>>2793721First time I've looked at this thread in a while. Carolina barbeque is the best by far, and I swear that's not because I'm from there.
>>2799324I'd like to visit Vancouver this winter. Pretty cheap flights year-round from Phoenix. A friend of mine spent about a week in a small port town in Alaska and really enjoyed it. I wonder if I'll get any hostility for being American considering how much we've been pissing on each other lately.
>>2801362What's traveling around Venezuela like as a Venezuelan? If you had the money to go to Scandinavia at some point I'm guessing you had the means to avoid at least some of the hassles.

>>2801358>>2802303I mean, is there a difference? they can literally see the regions you have visited and not visited with the colours lol its not cringe as long as you state that you didn't spend much time there and its highlighted as such.
>>2799324I am planning to do a very similiar Norway trip anon, did you camp anywhere? and did the police care.
>>2796302Based anon, my next trips are going to be >Armenia

>>2794069Have you visited Greenland though? if so share some details about it Eskimo bro
Going to Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong next Feb, Vietnam soon. London in November, and there'll be a sporadic trip to visit my best friend in Paris/Fonty.
Also, live in DC currently, probably can't see the lil dot. Not sure when I'll hit the rest of the US, I'm not particularly interested in Hawai'i or much of middle America...
>>2802675Pardon my autism, but I took the liberty of polishing up your map.
I noticed you prefer to use Paint's default colors to fill the map, so I changed the legend to match your preferred colors.
I noticed you left a part of Canada blank (Prince Edward Island). I don't know if you actually visited that province, so I filled it in with the lighter green (unvisited region). If this is wrong, then my bad. Either way, I've brought it to your attention.
I colored the rest of the US territories bright red (unvisited part of home country). You only covered Puerto Rico, but I got you on the rest. I filled in the US Virgin Islands, Navassa Island, the US Minor Outlying Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.
I gave the same treatment for countries that you've visited. You may not have visited these territories, but you did visit their parent countries.
Portugal: Azores and Madeira
Spain: Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, and the tiny territories on the northern border of Morocco
Netherlands: The Caribbean territories
You also missed a chunk of mainland Netherlands, so I filled that in, too.
I didn't mess with yellow, because those are obviously part of your travel plans.
>>2788321Uzbekistan is nice. Eat plov in bokhara, challenge the old man under the shade tree to backgammon (nardze), drink the local wine with construction workers. Forget about getting pussy though unless with Russian prostitutes. Uzbek women are full on Muslim. The Tajiks in Samarkand are prettier but no chance. You can talk to them- indeed they are friendlier than the men who are afraid you will take their women.
>>2802686Sure, thank you.
Never went beyond Latin America or Europe.
I want to visit a new continent.
Been looking at a Thailand-Malaysia-Singapore for my next trip. Would love to include Hong Kong too. But it's expensive.
At some point I also want to visit 'murica and Morocco to check off Africa as well.
And if I visit Europe again I don't want to skip the UK, Germany and a bit of East Europe as well (Maybe Prague or Dubrovnik).
Finally it would be a pity not to check out every province in my cunt, I have most of it under my belt so I'm over halfway there.
So much to do so little time.

Id like to do this but I'm a real traveler years on the road and only have an android sailfoam and an android tablet. Any ideas?

I've never been on this board before today, nor am I a seasoned traveller like the rest of you, but I figured I'd kill some time by taking part.
Pretty much every bit of travel I did was when I was 18 or younger (I'm 21) with my family, and since my mums British and my dads part Berber Algerian, we only ever travelled around the UK and the Maghreb (+ Turkey since it's a basic Brit spot). I sound like a spoiled cunt saying it, but most of the time I just wanted to go home because I really don't care about my heritage, and my parents were miserable fucks anyway so it's not like they made the trips easy to enjoy.
That being said, I've always wanted to do a tour of the 13 colonies, but just because it's a simple categorisation), and I worked part-time all through high school and university as well as doing internships/a placement year, so I can afford to do it when I graduate next summer without going into crippling debt or being faced with permanent unemployment like most Londoners these days. I'm not exclusively into Revolution history, but the colonies are a include all the states I've always wanted to visit, be it due to their history or just aesthetic/baseless personal passion. I know that I'm missing regions that are part of newer states rather than the original colonies, but it is what it is. American footballs my main sport so it's a shame that I won't be able to watch any NFL/CFB games, but I'll catch an NBA/MLB game every time I'm in a city with a team since I'm a casual fan of those sports too. Don't have any friends so I'll be going solo, and I doubt I'll be making any when I'm there so I'm not too worried about the social aspect of tourism. Pretty much the only thing I'm undecided on is whether to start in the North or South.
I only want to "visit" Australia because I'm hoping to move there a couple years down the line. Sorry for the blogpost, but typing this out made me realise just how much of a bore I am, so really I'm the victim here
>>2803041>native argentine>didnt color malvinas red
>>2803210how about you start colOring the islands nigga
>>2803210When you do the colonies don't sleep on Philly it''s not a shithole like people say. The bad areas you'll never come in contact with. Also PA is like paradise (Amish land, amazingly quaint towns like New Hope, Jim Thorpe, Lititz, etc).
Phillies games are great too and citizens bank park is a great stadium
PNC park is better (Pittsburgh) but not sure if you'll be out there
Also don't sleep on Chads Ford/Brandywine region in PA/Delaware. It's got some surprising art history (Wyeth family and Brandywine school) and some interesting Swedish + Dutch sites if you're into that. It's pretty modest but the people who work at those places are very pasionate.
>>2788321>Only place in the entire western hemisphere you've been is West VirginiaHow kek? How/why?
>>2803070Tell me all the subdivisions you've been to and I'll make it for you
>>2802687>Forget about getting pussy though unless with Russian prostitutes. Uzbek women are full on Muslim. That fucking sucks to hear, I'm moving there soon.
>>2801421Utah and Wyoming had been very nice, for a european everything feels larger and more spacious. I visited a bunch of sights, which had been overly touristy. This is even more noticable if there is nothing around these spots. It is comforting to simply understand the language and I had a great time there all in all.
Hokkaido I visited in Winter time, it was very nice, way more relaxed than kyoto or osaka or even tokyo. I was mostly in Sapporo and did not participate in any winter sports. The city was nice and had beautiful parks. I will definetly reivisit hokkaido again and spend more time there. A big negative for me was the speed of the long distance trains there, it took forever to pass greater distances. I thought about taking a ferry to visit russia for a day or two, however covid apparently killed their business and it is no longer possible

>4x Japan

>1x Austria
>1x Taiwan
>1x Canada
Not very well traveled but I'd like to be. But Japan and now France keep calling me back so I keep wanting to go there instead of try new things. And Taiwan deserves another visit too.
I never thought I'd want to go to France by the way, the wife dragged me into it and honestly I fucking really like the place. Was never on my list before.
Nothing planned right now but I'm considering
>Argentina
>South Korea
>Vietnam
>Italy
>Spain
>Kyrgyzstan
>Ireland

All in all probably Geneva. It's also where I grew up. It will always be home to me but I'm also looking to move on to the next place. Hopefully Japan.
