ok.... I need panniers now. maybe ones with locks or similar to a cage. someone might steal my fucking backpack on the pannier while I ride.

I've been locking it for some time now. when streets crowded (so less resistance from wind) I can go to 30-35km momentarily. turns out a 2.1" tires really help absorb many uncomfortable moments.
tires are so fucking expensive WTF. I searched. only find Kenda and other chinese/taiwanese brands affordable. Maxxis, Intercontinenal and whatever one pair + tubes = 70% my bike. it's ridiculous because my scooter tires way bigger yet somehow same price, and they're fucking tubeless. fucking bicycle industry fucking RIP OFF. no wonder why people complain about le $1500 "entry-level bike".
by the way, how do u know when it's time to maintain or give bike a look? ppl keep saying 6 months but I know it depends on how often we ride, the environment and what not. at the very least I'm thinking of checking the hubs once per 12-14 months.
