The war over the two 'toons is interesting. They're radically different versions of the Sonic universe (especially SatAM season 1 where Robotnik is even colder), SatAM focuses a lot more on OC regulars (who are, if you squint carefully, evolved versions of the small animal friends). Archie tried to merge both cartoons (while Fleetway was off doing its own thing based on the internal US Sonic bible) and that's where the ensemble cast really started getting massive as it dipped more to SatAM influence. What's interesting is that, in the end, AOSTH was closer to the Japanese version of Sonic, and SatAMfags have been trying to course-correct for literal decades.
