This franchise is schizo, Are we supposed to take Eggman seriously as a threat or not? It's like Bowser, dude does all kinds of fucked up shit but he loves his son, hell Bowser straight up killed the entire universe in one game and if not for Rosalina's god powers he'd of gotten himself killed as well, yet the cast still treats him as a nuience at best be it spin offs or main games.

The difference is this accepted by Mario fans but Sonic fans refuse to want to accept this for Eggman now that he has Sage, why is that? Sometimes the IDW authors seem to hate it too given the rants they make Lanolin, Starline and Surge go on about this shit. Is Whisper gonna become a hypocrite too after forcing Mimic to join jihad?

This franchise has never shyed away from death, the only thing it's shyed away from is confronting how kill happy the heroes are to any enemy that's not eggman and how even when they have him dead to rights they always let him go treating him as a harmless nuicence most of the time rather than a threat to the planet, it's people and life itself, even the most recent adventure Eggman kidnapped and messed with Cream's mind and his only punishment was being strapped to his own machine again while the cast laughs and leaves and in fact, Shadow was there for this but nobody knew it which means Shadow could have killed a defenseless Eggman and nobody would have known it was him because he's gone in the ending, meaning he somehow escaped the dream on his own without even Ariem knowing he was there or rather she did know yet chose to keep this to herself. We'll never know for sure because despite Shadow's inclusion in dream team they didn't give him a resolution

Sage is still pretty new and has yet to appear in a Modern mainline. Funny Eggman Nega's last non-crossover story-driven game had Metal Sonic, and I remember a lot of people were upset at the time that they officialized his regression after Heroes. Wouldn't be surprised if Metal has restrictions similar to Shadow on what licensed material can and cannot do.
