I have no clue how automated resume scanning works other than that it scans text for keywords.
If I use multiple columns like this to organize my resume, it's not going to throw off or get automatically rejected by the system, right? Same thing if I use color? Does it look bad if I use a template?
My current resume is entirely black and white because I'm told it's more professional, no columns, not using a template, I'm hoping that at a college career program or job fair I'll actually be able to get a human to look at my resume for once and I don't want them to trash it because they either think it's too boring/hard to read, or not professional enough.
