Considering biting the bullet and going back to school for nursing.
Alteast I know i'll be 100% employable if I decide to work in the medical field unlike in IT.
learn a trade
go the japan
>>105709522honestly, at this point a life of crime seems the most enticing.
i just want to live a quiet life innawoods and not have to work anymore
is that so much to ask
>>105709562why can't you do that? If you have to support a family that's understandable, but once you are free of your responsibilities just quite schlomo. You don't even need to go full hermit mode, sell your overpriced downtown property and go to bumfuck nowhere, install solar and starlink and order/but groceries in bulk and do whatever
>>105709559a life of crime does sound attractive but the health insurance isn't that great.
>>105709583cant do that in my shithole country
>>105709562>live a quiet life innawoods and not have to work anymoreMotherfucker what do you think you're going to be doing in the woods if not working to survive
>>105709522was thinking of becoming a pharmacist myself
>>105709583Do you even know what life costs today? If doing this legally of course.
>>105709559>go the japanThey won't take you.
I love my job, even though the other guys on my team are idiots.
You can love your job too, anon.
>our benefits
>parking lots
It's getting grim
>>105709683I heard pharmacy sucks. Mostly because of hte pay and the fact that you gotta deal with the same exact customer base you'd be dealing with if you were working in IT (retarded Baby Boomers)
>>105709705I can't because the only idiot on the team is the manager.
>>105709705I liked my job but it was outsourced overseas.
>>105709723The average pharmacist pay in the US is $64.79 an hour and you can pretty easily open your own shop. Then you don't have to worry about interacting with clients anymore. Also, while in IT the retarded boomers think they know better than you, in healthcare they worship the ground you walk so it's easy to get them off your back. The main problems are hypocondriacs, crazies and the senile, but you make a lot of money off the first group since they're happy to buy your entire inventory in a sitting.
>>105709705I am not brown enough to love my job. What's more, I value hygiene.
Please... no more indians
Thats all I ask for
Is that so much to ask
I love my job and even my workmates, but I hate my manager
Higher unemployment than sociology majors
>>105709773And remember: unemployment doesn't count people who have been looking for more than 6 months, have given up, or work part-time burger flipping gigs.
>>105709773Hilariously ironic
Indians wont take your job but someone who uses them will
>>105709787Great post actually
Hey if you want a job just learn how to program HAHAHAHAHAHA
>>105709848Yupppp *sip* that didn't age well.
>>105706352A lot of western Europeans already have it better. All of their jobs have 25 vacation days, mandatory work holidays and so on. Some jobs are also 36 hours with the extra 4 hours being added to vacation days so they have like 40-45 vacation days per year. Then there are also more social systems in place if you were to lose your job.
Yes you make more in the US and a lot more if you count big tech. But there's a trade off for that.

>>105709743You will have clients that will bash you for changes in medication because greedy insurance kikes demand that you prescribe a cheaper alternative.
Yes most boomers have been thought not to question healthcare professionals and will happily obey. You'll also have some problems with druggies trying to get prescription medication. Some might break into the shop for chemical compounds as well.
Lastly you will also have annoying phone calls with doctors especially if they're prescribing something retarded. You still need to check a doctor's prescription and if things seem off or irresponsible you'll need to call.
>>105709522watch in 10 years when boomers all die off, suddenly nursing becomes just like tech. you cant win. been considering it too lately thoughbeitever
>>105709872Kind of a misconception. Since they are paid so little and work is drawn out like that they have to work until they're 70. With a high paying US tech job you can retire at age 35 with the same standard of living. Kind of a devil's bargain but if you think about it they're basically part time Dollar General workers, nobody ever said you HAD to work 40 hours in the US, you always had the option to live humbly and earn less like they do.
monthly goal:
>10 applications
>0 responses
>>105709691yes? My expenditure is basically groceries + family. I have multiple lifetimes of slop to consoom in my backlog already. What do you even need, economy class flight ticket is cheap af for muh vacation if you really need that photo in your feed. Thank god I'm a man and don't have made up health issues to spend $$$ every month
>I will never own a golf course, a yacht, a brand new bmwI'm so sorry for not contributing my part to the economy
>>105709944It's comfier than you think. I get paid 85k as a 25yo out of the the state cucks me down to 50k after taxes and insurances. BUT those insurances include health, joblessness, pension, etc etc etc.
Cost of living is also lower so you can save up a decent amount of money each month.
We also have zero student loans so that's not an issue either.
Depending on how you live, you can this save up for a house and straight up buy it in your 30s, or get a loan and comfortably pay it off until you're 50.
Retiring early is indeed not really a thing but from what I've seen ameriburgers don't have that either unless you work at some unicorn as a high ranking employee or FAANG
>>105709872>Then there are also more social systems in place if you were to lose your job.the european social net is so lenient you can not work a day in your life if you choose. for some strange reason, in all these countries the tax rate is nearly 50% and there is almost no possibility for an ordinary person to crack 6 figures. you can be a doctor living in a 900 sq foot condo. sounds great. and the best thing of all? there is no trade off for it, it's just about being a decent frickin human being for pete's sake.
>>105709902Yes makes sense. A lot of this is not really "your problem" once you grow enough to have a shop and employ people though. Insurance, the premium you charge and your employees will deal will breakins and thefts, druggies and doctor calls. Angry boomers will have to go to "the manager" though.
>>105709944False. Pension is still 63ish years when it is 68 in north america, and they make enough to buy houses in most (not all) cities and countries, and to save up for retirement.
>>105709899I imagine they added that question back in 2005 and haven't touched it again.
>>105710026a lot of european "houses" are just tiny, expensive condos. actual houses are just as expensive as american houses.
>>105710050Lmao look at the burger talking with his paper houses
>>105710068given the choice between the 350k dollar 900 sq foot condo right next to the immigrant housing project, and the 4 bedroom paper house, i am choosing the latter. europeans could maybe understand that we have our differences and enjoy different ways of life ;)
>>105710026Pension where? Most euro countries are raising their retirement age due to insolvency. I wasn't even referring to social security, you can easily retire early in the US due to our much higher incomes. The fact that you depend on a "pension" is the entire point, that's shackles and chains buddy.
>>105709944If you want to earn more in Europe and retire early you can work as contractor / your own consultancy. It's more risk vs reward. Billing is in the range of 100-150 / hour, so earning 250k+ euros per year is possible. The tax climate for business earnings is a lot more favorably in most countries as well compared to being a full time employee. You lose a lot of those rights you have as a full time employee and have no entitlement to unemployment or compensation for sickness unless you take out an insurance for it.
> with a high paying US tech job you can retire at age 35 Yet the ones making those astronomical amounts are an extremely tiny portion of tech workers. Most of them are 35-40+ since lead devs, principal roles, senior architects earn the really ridiculous amounts.
>>105709989Over here in my country (Netherlands) early retirement is very rare if people remain in full time employment. The ones who start for themselves in any profession in their 30s do make an amount of money that enables them to retire early. Most still don't as they get quite addicted to the earnings.
>>105709989The only reason Americans don't retire at 45-50 is because they are idiots with their spending. I'm going to easily have enough by age 40. If you think about it it's the materialism and consumerism that enslaves people, if Americans were content with a European standard of living they could work far less.
>>105710088I noticed how you haven't mentioned the price of the paper house. I wonder why kek
>Manager is (once again) giving us a "friendly reminder" to come into the office more so we can listen to him argue with his wife on loudspeaker twice a week
Could be worse I guess
>>105710107>>Yet the ones making those astronomical amounts are an extremely tiny portion of tech workers.as opposed to high amount of europeans making 250k euros a year? give me a break. this is like a top 0.1% income in europe lol.
>>105710136where i live is considered a moderately expensive place to live, and it would run about 400 here. to give a price on it is a little complicated since they vary massively in the US. it probably varies quite a bit in europe too. but point being european houses are smaller and in the city in general, and the ones that arent are pretty expensive too.

It feels like every workplace is starting to go to shit. My team just got back to me after I replaced my manger, never told me this shit before but then randomly went like "UHMMM YOUR BOSS USED TO HELP ME WITH X YEARLY WHY DIDNT YOU HELP ME LAST YEAR AND THIS YEAR???" and im just like you fuckers you never told me about this. Like how the fuck should I know about YOUR operations. Seriously? Starting to become the scapegoat for everything and at this point I'm really like alrighty sure. I don't give a fuck give me SWEET RELEASE ALREADY.
Got a first engineering meeting with the company I'm joining in a few weeks. Yes they made me attend without paying me.
Anyway, they're pretty immature for a tech team, though they don't seem too retarded or hopeless so that's a nice change of pace.
But they use a thing called 'linear' for project management. Wtf is this and should I run for my life?
>>105710346theres a free website called zillow where you can actually look this up yourself. for example, you can put in the filters and scroll on a map to mass (the most expensive state to live in) and find results.
when europeans look at american houses to compare prices they only look at cities they have heard of which are the highest possible col and then think everything costs over a million. this is retarded. again, americans dont all live in cities and a lot do not want to. europeans tend to forget that we commute.
>>105710446You should find a job somewhere else and let them deal with that themselves.

I'm currently doing jr sys admin stuff at my work. Getting severely underpaid with little to no benefits but the job is easy. Is it worth doing a support level 1 role that has wfh for 12-14k more annually with benefits? Will this impact anything career wise? Anyone else done this
My brain says do it and it's better money so I should take it. Would be from 55k to 68kish.

If we're just going to keep posting race stereotypes, I might as well redpill the truth. The best workers are unironically African Americans, the types that drink starbucks lattes, wear a polo, They never chimp out, they're super respectful, and they're pretty knowledgeable at what's going on but never have a huge ego.
You may say asian or whities, but I've seen a SHIT ton of them get overly aggro, they usually have a superiority complex and they'll just try to huge dick their way through fucking anything. They're usually lacking in either people skills or technical skills and overcompensate a lot.
>>105711114This tranny wants to get dicked down by his black coworker
>>105711114That's cause we AAs got away from the ghetto for a reason. However, the downside is that someone like me isn't trusted or respected by managers to do something important. To this day, I always get managers who still are surprised by how smart I really am at programming and sys admin. I truly think being black is a curse for me in this field. Even though I've literally released software products that I even have on my resume.
>>105711130shittalk me all you want, you know it's fucking true. lmfao. you wanna keep racebaiting because you don't want to accept the truth.

>>105711134Ok ma'am (sir)
>>105711165Nope, tried that. They take advantage of you even more. Literally "yes massa" mode is a bad thing to do as an AA in the office. You have to have a spine to stand up to decisions but then you're towing the line of being seen as "problematic."
>>105711133>I am a bottom scraping ape>worship me because od my skin colorwhy are you shitskins always like this?

It's like they forget you're competent or can't accept it.
>>105710939Support level 1 so basically helpdesk? Even if it pays a bit more, it's probably a pretty terrible choice if you want to progress into something else.
I'm not sure if helpdesk really qualifies as experience for anything else except windows admin work and maybe some basic networking.
Most windows sysadmins I've met so far who came from helpdesk only know how to wrangle windows, nothing else really. Some have probably never written a line of code.

>>105711224Yes
Help desk is useless
It's also why the IT field is a horrible field to go into cause hell desk is the only entry level position yet gets you no experience to do anything anyone wants
>>105711114They are chill and actually like tech versus the others are usually just autists who turned to tech as escapism
>>105709500 (OP)I have a feeling my manager is using some advanced tactics to see if I'm at my computer in the morning, working.
>get told to do a task by manager>I message a group (my manager is a part of) about the task being completed>the next morning he asks me about the task>tell him I messaged the group>oh must've missed itIt's like some advanced plausibly deniable probing. This isn't the first time either. Sometimes he'll book meetings at 9am with me when his calendar is completely free the whole day, while knowing I don't like starting work before 10am.
Managers of /TWG/
Do you do any of this?
Have you heard of these tactics?
Why the passive aggressive route?
>>105711275I have a director who I swear did this to me the other day. He's in vacation for 3 weeks. He asked me to check and identify a fiber cable in the server room was multi mode or single mode. >>105711114Nah, blacks are too lazy, even the smart ones. They can definitely be chill guys in tech but that's part of the laziness they're not actually all that into it. The only 10x's I've ever met were white men because they're the only ones autistic enough to straight up identify with their work and product. Even elite jeets are simply there to make a buck and go home. The occasional white man will go home and dream about his work.
Decided to do a masters in the hope that the job market will be fixed by then. FML

>>105711313Not necessarily. The guy you want to be buddies with isn't necessarily your best engineer. >>105711291That is quite strange... He didn't specify why?
Usually people who are trying to cover up something are more wordy, so they'll give an explanation why they want a task done.
My manager saying he must've missed up really stands out. Normally people want to be seen as very diligent - they're admitting to being non diligent. Very suspicious.
He also probed for a status update on a colleague I was doing stuff with. Not cool.

>>105709500 (OP)Not gatekeeping this gem anymore as I found a job:
I slowly built a network of jeets with freelance websites like Upwork and when I found a job I liked, I directed all of them to flood their application portal with bullshit resumes. One jeet would be instructed to apply for two hours a day with fabricated resumes and depending on how badly I wanted the job, I'd point multiple jeets to the same website. I can't actually confirm numbers, but one of them reported to me he put in 400 resumes in one week.
I'd do this for about a week, and then completely stop. After 5 business days of silence, I'd simply put in my real resume. This confuses the HR Nancy - "Finally, after all this bullshit, a REAL resume!"
After they get what I am guessing is 1,000+ resumes and the noise shuts off, they receive mine. It landed me more interviews in the past, and now I have a job.
>>105711424because i apply on indeed or whatever and the email back is some recruiting firm instead of the company itself

>>105711455obviously the downside of this is you need some money to do it. I'd haggle with the upwork jeets because they are fully aware of what US based people are willing to pay, but I'm also aware of how far the dollar goes and how many biorobot indians are willing to work for $8/hr.

My current resume is entirely black and white because I'm told it's more professional, no columns, not using a template, I'm hoping that at a college career program or job fair I'll actually be able to get a human to look at my resume for once and I don't want them to trash it because they either think it's too boring/hard to read, or not professional enough.

Even if an LLM doesn't summarize it, the reviewer will probably only see the plain text version and have the option to view the original PDF. The best thing you can do to test it is save your resume as a PDF, open it, ctrl+a, copy, and paste it into a plain text editor like notepad, then replace all line breaks with a single space. That's what the resume parser will see. If anything ends up out of order, find a way to fix it in the original document.

Two column resumes are easier to read for a human but since everything is automated today I guess the only thing that matters is if ATS can read it

I remember putting "Google" on my resume because I guess I was taking advice from boomers on what to put on it and then going to some office on campus to get a free resume review and the cute girl there laughed at me for including it on the resume :(
>>105716382Just make two versions: one that's ATS friendly with everything in one line, and another formatted prettier that you can print out or email to people who will look directly at it.
Huge tech layoffs are coming this year. You think last few years were bad? They were nothing compared to what's coming. We'll see some companies cut 25-50% of their developers. Market's about to be flooded with 200k+ tech workers. Amazon alone is going to layoff another 30,000

Good news is I didn't get laid off. Bad news is the team they put me on is total chaos. Requirements change everyday. You can't trust the ticket: you'll just be told "no no no, don't do it that". Sprints are meaningless: they will randomly want you do do XYZ right NOW without regard to when the sprint ends. Basically, just put up and shut up and do what they tell you. It is impossible to understand the "English" these "people" speak. Is suicide the only option bros????

how do i work myself up enough to care about my job while sober as much as i get upset about things when i'm drinking
or do i gotta start drinking at work
It's very simple
Stop caring about your job
You get paid to deliver results the means do not matter. No customer buys or uses a product because it used microservices. They just want button to do X, Y, or Z
Ignore any commands by anyone other than your superior but feel free to help your coworkers if they are chill
If they are dicks, let them fail
Ignore all meetings that waste your time
Literally that easy
