I wouldn't say so, because IRL the Union actually dissolved itself, relatively peacefully, without a civil war and NAFO invasion - and now they're talking about Cold War 2.0... The Republic of the Sphere turned out to be a farce, and the Blakist jihad ended in nothing despite the high damage.
The Wolf Empire? It came into being and WILL COLLAPSE. The Marian Hegemony - the Space Roman Empire is a joke. The rest of the peripheral countries are ordinary nonentities.
In the end, it's always the same Great Houses with temporary difficulties, Clans as plot crap for a short time and Periphery which is independent because nothing depends on it. It's BORING.
