idk about this, but i did find him entertaining, especially in the first few seasons of no reservations when he wasn't as famous/recognizable. my favorite parts aren't when he's waxing poetic about how poor people in malaysia make the best noodles in the world because of the unique feces particles that get mixed in or whatever, he's at his best when he's being a whiny bitch or complaining about some production fuck up.

i could never get into his CNN show, by then he was a legit celebrity and it was just another cookie cutter travel show more or less. i don't need another rich dude going to exotic places and telling me "yeah man, i don't go for that touristy shit, this is where the locals eat man!", give me some classic bourdain complaining about how he can't handle walking up all of the stairs in some temple because he's been smoking for 40 years and has no stamina
