Yeah I just pretend it's soul energy/madness affecting things. Arthur being able to project plasma from a hilt like a lightsaber was reasonable but using it as a rope with string tension and not even affecting the buildings it's attached to required quite a bit of turning off my brain otherwise. I didn't really question how powers work in Soul Eater because they weren't pushing the science angle.
