Sure, it doesn't have to be ridiculous. That's why I dislike the X-01 in Fallout 4, it went too far in trying to bulk it up. I just think it's also meant to be power armor after all. It's not a pair of leather armor that you wear, it's a powered exosuit that grants strength increases and high environmental resistance. There's a balance to be had.
