I loved early BFDIA, so seeing the tone shift to something a bit more dark and somber, and the contestants being lost in the dark, would be nice to see. However, BFDI has devolved into every single moment requiring to have at least some bells and whistles. There are no slow-paced scenes focused on a single element anymore, we're never getting something akin to BFDIA 5a's ending again.
Compositionally, modern BFDI is very messy and can't properly commit.
