idk if the hodoi guy is bsing but the analogies in all of this are remarkable. while typical approaches focus on practices that gravitate towards samatha jhanic states which compress experience and dissociate from the world, these ideas all seem to be moving towards a decompression of experience and deeper association with the fine functioning of the world

i think the occult can still useful for all of this stuff but its more for speeding up the attainment of siddhis by magickally transforming ones consciousness. note that a lot of western occult practices have their roots in the tantras which aimed to actually achieve enlightenment in this lifetime through various heterodox spiritual practices
