I wholeheartedly believe we're in an era where most sectors suffer from this. From the higher ups in construction jobs, to movies, to gaming, cellphones, cars, etc. My theory is, the high seats are now all occupied by drones whom just have been around long enough to reach these positions.
The line of evolution goes

Creates the revolutionary product
>Administrator
Manages to improve production/salability of said product. Will probably come up with a equation on how to steadily progress with said product and make a profit
>Corpos
Drones who will follow said equation/what came before without thinking. Won't understand why things aren't working as they did in the past. Will most likely damage the company, but will exit it with a nice payout.
Iwata and Reggie were a one in a kind deal. Obviously not perfect, but we don't even "know" the names of the people in control right now.
