Conan should have been given more time to develop the show and win over America. He did it before and he would have done it again. Dave did it. They just got nervous and fucked him because they wanted too much. Corporate profit is not good for comedy. It's amazing we got so many amazing years of Dave and Conan doing what they did. Still feels like somehow we got away with something. It doesn't feel like any TV personality has the kind of network power a Letterman or a Carson had at the height of their careers. There won't ever be big people like that again. Like when they say Tom Cruise is the last real movie star. He probably is. The old ways are dying. It's getting closer to the Warhol 15 minutes thing.
