It was a shame that Captain "Princess" Hibana was so evil, and not just because she was so hot, lolfirepun. The fact of the matter was, power wouldn't fill the hole inside her.

"You're only hurting yourself," he told her. And indeed, her attacks were backfiring. Her dozens of small fire attacks, while beautiful (no, don't even think about it Jumper), were ineffective against a Second Generation with Jumper's control. Any ember that struck an unprotected part of his body became an armor plate, and the ones that struck his plates caused explosions she had to shrink back from. If he could get close to her, the fight would be over immediately, but she was surprisingly graceful in high heels.

"Don't you lecture me!" Hibana snapped, preparing a special attack.

"Sorry, I don't mean to. But it's obvious you're not happy. I'm sure you've seen it in the mirror, that scowl. Every day. Power and prestige doesn't make it go away, does it?"

"Shut up, fool." And she conjured a tree of fire. A cherry tree in full bloom. Beautiful. This time Jumper couldn't help himself, and got hit. That hurt, but what really threw him was the sudden, strong sense of vertigo.

For a moment, he had no idea where he was, but he powered through it. "Only people can make you smile."
