Gonna be real with you.. FL wise, as I can't speak for CChads..this is a hypothetical "I am the only DRK on my team", with 2 or a DNC, it gets even worse.

I play DRK exclusively..my pull and lock down on a team's bad placement means I am burning 2500 mana per person on your team..
(Assuming you didn't guard, but with enough aoe burst, guard means nothing)

Correct, I will live or I will die... However; when my team follows up my pull with another volley of AOE CC, say a warrior does the stun after, a whm uses a laser (every 75 seconds), a bard will dump silence and lb into that group. (All these things hurt BAD) Stunning you again

2 seconds isn't enough, you now have to choose, heal or purify with your remaining mana, IF you have any.. it is.. Not good, if purify lasted longer, maybe this would make sense.
There are simply too many CCs, not to mention classes that drain mana to make this an "kinda alright / different" change.
WHM, BRD, NIN, DNC will eat very well.

Bard was never 'bad' in FL at least with it's utility, but you are spot on.
The more cc conditions you get on groups the better because that means they are wasting mana / actions / time on "not damage" which is how you your team wins.
