I don't use him much anymore because I have every frame and prefer using specialized loadouts, but he absolutely carried me through the star chart (that was before he got moved to Railjack), ESO, etc
He's perfect for a new player who wants 1 frame
>can cc
>can strip armor
>can heal, give armor, and straight up prevent teammates from dying (useful even in the highest difficulty content where you have limited revives etc)
>can dmg buff (smite augment)
>is basically invincible in lvl<100 content once you slot in Rage and turn on Renewal
