My autism can make sense of the timeline. Note this makes a lot of assumptions but it's a fucking Nintendo series.
>Donkey Kong Arcade era
DK the First (Cranky) kidnaps Lady (Pauline's grandma). Lady and Pauline have gone back and forth on whether or not they're the same over the years, and Smash Ultimate had a spirit of "DK and Lady" while also mentioning Pauline by name in other places so I find it likely internally that Lady is now meant to be Pauline's grandma. Presumably Jumpman is Mario's grandpa, or is perhaps some unrelated identical stranger.
>TIME PASSAGE (enough for DK Jr. to grow up)
>Yoshi's Island era
Mario and DK are delivered by storks at some point. Notably, the story of Yoshi's Island DS is that babies were being kidnapped from their homes by Kamek and the toadies, so we actually have no idea if Baby DK and Baby Mario are actually the same age. It's possible Baby DK is the older one of the two. Pauline is also not relevant to these games, so it's very possible she's not even born/delivered yet.
>Country era
DK grows up a bit, now in his mid-to-late teens. DKC2 happens right after DKC1, and DKC3 was originally started thanks to a vacation DK and Diddy took after the events of DKC2, so all three games happen in quick succession. Returns and Freeze happen some time later, but let's assume it's not too much later since they're celebrating DK's birthday. They can all happen in the same year.

Assuming Mario and DK are around the same age and people were not just lying about saying Odyssey is confirmed 10 years later, this means DK is at least 16 here (that one Melee trophy says Mario is 'about 26' in one language and it matches with Nintendo claiming him to be in his mid-20s). Pauline is confirmed to be 13.
>Present-Day/Super Mario series
Mario is in his mid-20s. DK is in his mid-to-late 20s depending on when he was delivered compared to Mario. Pauline is 23. They end up reenacting the events of their grandparents because time is a flat circle.
