Unfortunately there are no leaks that I know of, so I have nothing but headcanons to go off of. I like to imagine Gio probably tried his best as a father, but was distant, leading to strain in him and Silver's relationship. I don't think he'd be cruel to Silver, though he might have been a bit strict at times. He does seem to genuinely care about his son in mastersex, at least. However, I think he'd have trouble connecting with a child, and he'd want to keep Silver out of Team Rocket's affairs until he's older. But this would just lead to a lot of neglect and insecurity in Silver, wondering if his dad even loves him.
I can imagine the one thing keeping Silver's love for Gio alive was admiration. He probably saw his dad as this cool, powerful man that no one could beat, and wanted to be just like him. So when Gio was beat by Red, and his first response was to disband TR and run away, the image Silver built of Gio probably all came crashing down. He was left with this emotionally distant father who was almost never around, and who's a pathetic coward to boot. I feel like the way Silver went scorched earth when Gio disbanded TR means it was likely the final nail in the coffin, rather than being the only issue.
It does make me wonder what would happen if Gio won, though. In mastersex, the Gio we have is RR Gio, so he won in his universe. But nonetheless, he doesn't seem surprised by his son hating his guts. So I wonder if Silver is simply fated to hate his dad in every universe. It'd be funny though if he just has no clue why his son suddenly hates him.
But despite this, I still wanna have kids with Gio. I think he'd try and do better the second time around, and I'd help make up for any of his shortcomings (and force him to actually spend time with his child lol). But I'm just horny and have rose-tinted glasses on. He'd probably be a terrible man to reproduce with. But that won't stop me from trying.
