At times there's no point other than sharing the work and showcasing two different voices (male versus female) with two different accents (American English versus Italian native speakers), at other times it's because it's a dialogue or can be presented as a dialogue (e.g., one asks, "Estne Gallia in Eurōpā?" and the other answers, "Gallia in Eurōpā est.").
