I've been sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out hydrogen production to feed gasoline production from anthracene oil, since you get more gasoline per anthracene using hydrogen, and without the excess coke as a byproduct. And then I finally realize that feeding that coke byproduct back into the loop actually gets you more gasoline per raw coal input than using the hydrogen recipe. Oh well. At least hydrogen from syngas seems to be far and away the best method to produce the stuff, at logistics science anyway, so my mental flailing hasn't been all for nothing.

If scaling up is an issue, it would be much easier to pull a dozen belts of raw coal out of a single coal patch than to find the equivalent amount of bitumen seeps and transport their respective fluids wherever you need them. Otherwise, I'm honestly not sure. This is relatively new territory for me as well.
