China and Eastern Europe are emerging basketball powerhouses, the former USSR was a basketball power that has beat the US in the Olympics, and Western Europe has arguably produced a better system than the US and Canada. The UK is more exceptional in that they haven't produced much talent in basketball compared to their Western European counterparts.
