Lobbying group admitted one of the reasons publishers they destroy your purchases is so they can more easily sell you their next game.
Don't fall for the blatant trolls and shills trying to misrepresent the initiative.
This affects you even if you don't buy these types of games as industry resources are being pulled to make their AAA slop, while also encouraging other to follow along these bad practices. It is something that is only getting worse the more you ignore it.
No one is asking for permanent server support.
This isn't something prohibitively expensive to do as they like to pretend, your rare always online indie title isn't going to be cancelled for this (if those even exist).
Regular indie games won't feel this at all since they don't have always online servers.
