How is the story of Jesus the story of their people? They shunned Jesus and didn’t accept him as their messiah. The jews have always believed that a messiah type figure will come and save them from their bondage. I don’t know why you keep conflating Jesus with the jews, you seem really set on doing that, so nothing said will probably change your mind.
I don’t know if the jews are really underdogs or overly oppressed though, I would say they are more laden to being outsiders or black sheep, they’re not really known for being central figures in any community, plus add to that they are a minority and there’s not that many of them. Can a small minority of people really control or exert the most influence over the world?
