No, I'm working on a "distro" but one with a more Windows-y or Mac-y "one set of apps" design, including custom apps. It will have kernel modifications but I only have a kernel module (or two) to meme in the startup log planned.
No package repo intended and I'm also going to make some unconventional choices like passwordless root as the default way to use the system.
And once it works I may port it to a BSD so that it becomes a "real" OS in the sense of being independent of (one particular) kernel. I'm never calling it a distro lol.
XML-based packages, that makes plenty of sense.
Not sure what you meant here >>105879775, you could update without breaking things bc you kept multiple versions patching them in with symlinks a la guix / nix, and bc of your perl setup not being updated along?
