The only reason I even liked reading is because I was born into the time where YA novels were everywhere

I must have re-read the Percy Jackson books like a billion fucking times
Meanwhile even now as an Adult I cannot fucking stand some of the classical school literature

Moby dick has probably killed off a generation of reads all by itself, who the fuck suggested making kids read about boring fucking whale facts and gay sex with wild natives as something that's critical to the development of reading comprehension
