I think it truly died with cyberpunk edgesloppers. Im not kidding when i shit it off 30 seconds in because animation was bad. A friend put it on and we got 3/4 of the way through first ep and hes like "this is kinda bad".
And yet normalfags liked it. Normalfags exclaim "peak!." Normal fags set it as gold standard for other companies to copy. Netflix shit ruined anime. Except violet evergarden. That was kino because it was written by actual japanese people.
Long rant but There isnt a barrier of entry to anime anymore. No more codec downloading, no more downloading subs, no more searching for pirate sites and reading forums. Its all crunchyroll and their activist VA and even localizers changing subs.
Its truly the worst time for the hobby as it gets more popular. Its all so tiresome
