Since independence, workers’ rights in America have transformed from near-total exploitation to a recognized (if incomplete) system of protections and dignity. Yet, these victories were hard-won and often rolled back. Today, the U.S. still lags behind many developed nations in areas like paid parental leave, universal healthcare, and union density. So while workers have come far, the fight for real economic democracy and workplace power is still very much alive.

Your libertarian dream of unchecked markets doesn’t empower Norwegians; it hands the reins to global corporations and the 1% who pocket workers’ value (top 1% own 32% of wealth, Federal Reserve 2023). Norway’s Gini crept from 0.25 to 0.27 (Statistics Norway, 2022) under those policies, and your threats won’t change the math. Your economic playbook risks selling our sovereignty to the highest bidder.
