Pretty good analysis on the lack of a proper combat theme anon. I completely agree with that. The lack of combat theme/desert wind being that theme does make you feel like no matter what you do the wasteland combat will remain the same even after you're gone. All that's left is the desert wind blowing across your bleached bones.
There's a good amount of remixes online that do tend to amp up the usual atmospheric soundtrack that I enjoy, not well suited to the gameplay but it's a nice iteration on something you've likely heard for a total of hours on end.
