Isn't it unbelievable? That you're just supposed to move on? Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther has Werther kill himself because he can't be with the one woman he truly loves. Wagner's Tristan and Isolde has them both die because only in death can they truly be together. And both Goethe and Wagner were really just writing about their own life. For Goethe it was Charlotte Buff and for Wagner it was Mathilde Wesendonck. But they both moved on. Goethe had several other relationships and got married at 56 and so did Wagner at 57. It just seems so impossible to me.
