I do like the idea of different elf types being of different ethnicities, locations and/or biomes, like your picture.
It just doesn't make much sense realistically speaking if, for example, here on this isolated wood elf town, there are asian elves, black elves, white elves, latino elves... I get it's just fantasy at the end of the day, but it feels a bit like forced diversity.

Having different elf types being of different locations of the globe (or at least different biomes) would make more sense.
