It is an /mlp/ con, and the official stance was always optics to ensure that we can have a venue at all. But it's for that exact reason that the con can't openly be an /mlp/ con. The 4chan things that occur must occur with plausible deniability on Snowpity's part, if they and we want to keep a good thing going.
