in E2 anon focuses on his studies instead of tavi, who herself decides to woman up and be the royal her mother wants her to be
in E1 anon focuses too much on ascending and gets sloppy, which leads to an assassination attempt on his master or a sabotage on his own ascension, either way octavia dies and he gets mindbroken
