I had a LaRue mount on my first ACOG (standard TA31), on my first absolutely standard 16" DI AR for 10 years, worked great, never had a problem.
When I got my SBR, I decided to get a LEDcog for the forward dot mounting position. I put it on, torqued it it as close to spec as I could manage with the thumbscrews and screwdriver slot, and took it to a class. It came loose in less than 600 rounds. Not 'optic fell off the gun' loose, but loose enough to slide back and forth a little on the rail. I had to crank it down way over spec with a tool to get it to stay put for the rest of the class.
Bought another LaRue mount when I got home and put it on. It stays put, it's easier to remove and install, and it returns to zero pretty well. It's just better as a mount than the OEM thumbscrew one.
