Not sure what you mean by "the novelty of homo" (S1 was released in 2017) but while it's not perfect by any means I feel it has a lot of heart, has that early lighthearted 2000s shojo vibe (ouran vibe even? it's the meta humor), and is therefore worth the watch. Don't expect something that takes itself too seriously though. While it has (clunky) plot, shonen elements, and depressing shit going it's mostly a silly little romance anime.
You will be able to tell very quickly if it's for you anyways. By the end of the first ep you'll know if you like it.
