The Juggernaut meme is really funny, but personally I suspect that they seek to prove themselves doing "bold" and "brave" things in order to increase their clout and thereby their social and sexual value. I think that, on some level, they understand how worthless they are, so much that they'd rather die trying to get big than to stay small. It's the same as how wignats (historically cannon fodder) know they're worthless as individuals and so dedicate themselves to their nation (which is worth a great deal, of course) and would rather die trying to save it than risk living in a defeated colonized shithole.
