The movie has a number of references to Crossed : Wish You Were Here and Crossed : Plus 100

>A caption that 28 years after the infected storm the English Tunnel to the mainland the EU finally force them back and quarantine all of Britain with regular navy patrol boats
>Jamie and his son Spike leave their sick mother Isla to go on Spike's rite of passage to the mainland via a causeway to kill infected
>They succeed in killing a few before being forced into hiding by a huge group of infected
>While in hiding they spy a bonfire in the distance created by a Dr Kelson, an eccentric but kind-hearted physician
>The infected, led by an Alpha chase Jamie and his son all the way back home
>Spike later explains that the Alpha is a rare type of infected where the virus actually behaves like a steroid as well as a disease, making them bigger, faster, stronger and WITH A FUCKING HEALING FACTOR
>The islanders succeed in driving off the Alpha with multiple arrows and a ballista (he heals back)
>Spike finds out his dad has been cheating on Isla so he decides to bring his mother to find Dr Kelson
>A separate story has group of Swedish sailors whose boat crashed and are now stock on the island. The infected and the Alpha kill all except Erik who escapes and later meets up with Spike and Isla
>They find a train with an infected pregnant woman who gives birth to a non-infected baby (protected by the placenta)
>The Alpha arrives and kills Erik but is stopped by Dr Kelson
>Dr Kelson brings them to a huge bone monument made of up human skulls that he created using dead humans and infected
>Dr Kelson explains that Isla's illness is due to cancer and is beyond saving and kills her by lethal injection
>Spike then puts Isla's skull on top of the monument
>Spike later leaves his village alone to explore the rest of the mainland and gets chased after by a group of infected
>He is saved by the timely arrival of a Harlequin Troupe from Warhammer 40k
