The PS5 was already hosed from the get-go from Sony doing nothing about scalpers for over a year just because the hardware sales numbers sounded impressive to shareholders in the short term. Software sales were so dismal that, within just a year, Sony started taking on PC as a major platform, which we already take for granted now but was absolutely shocking at the time. Hell, it made JAPAN instantly start taking the PC market seriously and drop their stigma against it, and it usually takes Japanese companies years just to even recognize changes in market trends (let alone actually react to them).
