Partially. The main crux of his criticism from the cast was not just about him being reckless but him being reckless and zealous for the wrong cause. In the finale he loses his faith (heh) in the whole plan and just runs on fumes - leading him to almost dying. I remember one anon describing Shinn as a shounen protagonist that lost his will and motivation, meaning he can't bullshit his way to victory anymore.
In the movie he's at first strategically mellowed out by Kira putting him in support and civilian escort roles. Then when they unleash him on goober knights he's much more clearheaded. In Destiny he tanked Destroy's beam head on because he was an insane berserker but in the movie you see him methodically disarming the knights with hit and run tactics before committing to full on attack.
By far the most entertaining character in CE.
