>But I ended up eating it like it was nothing (laughs). That’s when I first realized it.
>Before that?
>Uehara: I liked picking at lots of different foods, but I never ate a massive amount of just one dish.
>Yeah, in daily life you don’t really get the chance to eat 2kg of curry. What were you like as a child?
>Uehara: I was a picky eater (laughs). My favorite foods were celery, canned peaches, and the parsley growing in my grandmother’s garden! While my cousins were saying, “The flowers are so pretty~,” I’d be yelling, “Parsley~!” and munching on it.
>That’s quite unique! (laughs) With all that eating, how do you maintain your figure?
>Uehara: I gain weight like anyone else (laughs). Before important photo shoots, I adjust how much I eat. But maybe my background in swimming and cheerleading helps too. I did swimming from elementary school all the way through high school, and I was on the cheerleading team in junior high and high school as well.
>Cheerleading has a pretty tough image.
>Uehara: It was super intense! It was a hardcore athletic environment, with strict seniority rules, and the training camps were brutal. Carrying people on your back and sprinting up hills, stair runs, crazy muscle training… Everyone was chugging energy drinks (laughs).
>Sounds like the mental toughness you developed back then is still with you now.
>Uehara: That’s probably true. There were auditions to decide who would make the competition team, so I think that’s when I became so competitive.
>I heard your start in professional wrestling was through the "Yume Pro-Wrestling" project?
>Uehara: Yes. It was a project where your dream would come true if you ranked first, so I joined with the mindset of “let’s give it a try.” At the time, audition-based shows were starting to gain popularity, and I wanted to experience that too.
>Weren’t you scared or hesitant about wrestling?
