Most people are fully aware that multi-plats on Nintendo systems tend to be the worse due to weak hardware, so they don't buy them unless they're actual Nintendo cultists that don't own anything else. It also doesn't help that they're usually more money and the games aren't even on the carts now.
Xbox on the other hand is purely because of the weak install base, turns out nobody wants to buy consoles if they don't have good exclusives, which is half of the appeal of them.
