I wouldn't say that because the original f-zero (the only one I ever played) artwork doesn't have anything to lead me to believe that the game would be a run 'n' gun. Starfox SNES has Fox outside the ship with his gun. I should expect at least a portion of the game outside the ship.

I've never seen this stuff, but, if this media were a lot more prominently promoted, then yeah, I would say it's fair to assume that F-Zero is a run 'n' gun if this were all you saw.
