I think it's the best way to feed your dog. Kibble is goyslop.
I don't buy premade, I just do it myself. Staples are chicken wings, beef rib bones, turkey/lamb/beef mince, beef liver/kidney and sardines. Sometimes I give him small fillets of salmon or eggs in the shell. I try to keep all the foods under $5 a pound which is still not cheap but worth it imo. Took a bit of figuring out to make sure he was getting the right ratios of protein/fat and I basically just went off the consistency of his stools. Diarrhea = too much fat, constipation = too little fat or too much bone content. I generally try to do the 80/10/10 ratio which is 80% meat and bones, 10% organ and 10% fruit/vegetables. A lot of the time he will just ignore the vegetables I try to give him so whatever.
Also when I was growing up my family fed my dogs almost solely chicken wings and they are still alive, one is 15 and one is 16. These days I try to convince my parents to feed them more organ meat. So when people wring their hands about how important it is that your dog's diet is perfectly balanced I don't pay much mind to it. It's mostly just the big kibble industry brainwashing. I know it's somewhat important but dogs are adapted to be scavengers and eat what they can get, it's not like wolves or domesticated dogs of the past had a 'balanced' diet.
