in DeS it feels like you're carving through a small portion of a much larger world which makes it feel far bigger as a result
it's the same type of feeling you'd get in old games or jarpigs where you'd think about breaking outside a game's playable space, seeing stuff on the horizon thinking about all the wild stuff over there. when a game actually lets you freely explore all of it, there's no mystery left and no proper sense of scale
