Not even 1.7.3 is good, because they added these ugly, annoying shitty things in 1.7.2. They completely fucking ruined the atmosphere and aesthetic Minecraft's grass used to have. Whenever I get the urge to play again after a few years, I have to go out of my way to find a 1.6 download because too many retards only bother hosting the most popular updates.
