HD offered a dataset that was basically untouched AoC even when Forgotten Empires made their mark originally, that version is still technically around too. Still, with DE's expanded subgame selection you'd think they could offer a classic mode or something, although engine differences wouldn't exactly make it 1:1. Anything past DE's release is especially skubby but Wei/Wu/Shu certainly have no fucking business whatsoever being in ranked, and should've been in Chronicles like they were ostensibly intended. 100% executive meddling for the PS5 release.

>nerfed old civs
Most of the AoK/AoC civs other than maybe Britons and Mayans ultimately got a net buff or went relatively unchanged, the issue is more competing civs in the same fields. Infantry is the best it's ever been currently and Vikings ended up getting +1 to Archer attack as a lategame tech after the loss of Thumb Ring. A 52% winrate isn't bad at all, especially in this Khitan-induced hell.
