A lot of western toku references seem to cast such a large net, usually mixing together Rider, Sentai and Ultra.
They end up with something bland instead of building up a tokusatsu design from the ground up, either that or they just kitbash and tweak already existing designs.
Really, it'd be better if they'd take a couple moments to think about things like "How would a real person wear this?"
Forgive my rant but it's why I find the new Toei Spider-Man redesign a bit meh.
Normal Spider-Man is already Tokusatsu-esque, and the new scarf and visor eyes would've been a good addition, pretty Showa, but everything else they added doesn't really invoke toku, should've just given him some boots and gloves in my opinion, or went full Reiwa and make him bulky
